The late 18th and early 19th Century building complex on the Upper Market is an important feature of urban planning in the old town and one of the last non Mühlhausens renovated building at such a prominent location.
Â
After many years of vacancy, the building was partially conserved only in the shell with one emergency safety measure taken in the early 1990s.
Â
The conversion placed two offices on the ground floor and ten flats of corner property on the Upper Market area. The residential section includes studios to a 3,5-room apartment, all connected with outdoor space. The three buildings on the Upper Market area are opened up by the new, centrally located stairway. In the 3rd floor the only 5-room apartment stretches over all three buildings.
Â
The existing plan structure has been retained where possible, only for the integration of the bathrooms have new stud walls been inserted. New, more generous plans are found mainly in the building Obermarkt 18, because the rear interior was completely destroyed and only a shell was present.
Â
The interventions on the facades are also kept at a minimum: new windows have been cautiously added and take on existing axis and formats.
