This challenge was to supplement the existing angular structure with a low-cost dwelling.

The project was based on the typical local “Hofbebauungen�. The new building was a simple cube in the north end of the existing structure. It was blended with the eastern concrete wall to make up the new courtyard, which is partly open to the street.

The new building is an austere cube, which is located on a massive, earth-colored concrete base slightly above the farm. This provides a view over the house of the terrace, garden, stream and its surrounding area. In addition, residents can look across from the top floor to the garden, landscape, and the village.
